Properly Erase Data on Digital Media

The question of how to handle decommissioned data carriers has been relevant long before January 1, 2018. Everywhere personal data is processed, whether in companies, authorities, or associations, it must be ensured that sensitive data is securely deleted. At DataFor, you receive a GDPR-compliant deletion certificate for the proper execution of data destruction.

DataFor Performs Secure Data Deletion

The software we use for secure data deletion of hard drives and RAID systems complies with the requirements of the Federal Office for Information Security (BSI) and is certified by the National Cyber Security Center (NCSC). Furthermore, the software has a Common Criteria EAL3+ certification, the highest IT security level currently awarded in Europe for data deletion products. The issued certificates are legally binding, and the performed deletion is forensically traceable.

We Specialize in GDPR-Compliant Data Deletion of:

Magnetic Hard Drives
USB Flash Drives
Flash Solid-State Drives (SSD)

Regular Deletion Is Ineffective

When deleting in Windows, the data is simply moved to the Recycle Bin or removed from it. This method is by no means secure, as the data can be easily recovered using special tools. When deleting, only the reference to the deleted file is removed, but not the file itself. Therefore, it is possible to recover such files and documents even after formatting a partition.

Even for experienced data recovery experts like DataFor, the deleted data is no longer recoverable after the deletion process. After deleting the data carriers, there is no way to restore the data or even fragments of it, even for providers like us who use their own deletion software. Our software has been carefully tested, and even protected areas on the hard drive are securely deleted using the ATA 'Secure Erase' command. This command activates a manufacturer-specific routine in the hard drive that deletes the entire hard drive, including any defective memory areas. After successful deletion, you will receive a deletion certificate for each deleted data carrier for documentation purposes. This certificate can be kept by us and sent to you upon request.
